Mike and Mary Frances have been members of Holy Spirit for over four decades. They share in the legacy of the construction of Holy Spirit, from celebrating Mass in an Oak Park theatre and the Lenexa Community Center to assisting with the first fundraising drive to build the church. Their names are included on the brass parish family tree inside the entrance to Holy Spirit. The Horton’s were also involved as original members in the building of Church of the Nativity but are now back at Holy Spirit. “When we downsized and moved from Leawood to Overland Park, we have been pleased to return to Holy Spirit. We have come full circle.”
Mike is a retired Vice President from the Kansas City Life Insurance company, and Mary Frances is retired as an educator and administrator for Shawnee Mission schools, and for the Diocese of Kansas City, Missouri.
For the last three and a half years they have made their home at Santa Marta Retirement Community. Mary Frances serves as the Vice Chair of the Resident Council and is a minister of Holy Communion. Mike is a greeter at Sunday Mass.
They chose Santa Marta because it is one of only two “Life Care” senior Communities in Johnson County. “It brings us great peace of mind to know we will always be taken care of at Santa Marta. If special care would be needed in the future, whether, assisted living, skilled nursing, long term Care, and memory care are all on the same campus. We feel it is a gift for our children that they can be assured that any life care need can be met at Santa Marta.
Mary Frances will attend the lunch and tour at Santa Marta for Holy Spirit parishioners on Wednesday, December 3rd at 11:00 am. She hopes to see you there!
